Description

Don't you hate when a deep scratch seems to come from nowhere and ruin the beauty of your car? Spending all that money on a new paint job is frustrating, and using touch-up paint often looks unsightly and tacky.

The solution is DSR-2000, a Paint-Clear Coat Restoration Kit. Engineered by professionals to remove superficial damage and restore surfaces to their original luster, DSR-2000 will completely remove an existing scratch right in front of your eyes.

  • Deep scratches are now a thing of the past. DSR-2000 removes scratches that have penetrated down to the bare metal.
  • Easy to use.
  • 30 day, no-questions-asked, money-back guarantee. Satisfaction guaranteed.
  • Saves time and money.
  • Improve the value of your vehicle.

The power of DSR-2000 is the super fine Micro Mesh® Soft Touch® cushioned abrasive pads. This technology was originally developed for the aerospace industry for restoring aircraft windows to optical clarity. Using a series of super fine flexible pads, bonded with silicone carbide or aluminum oxide crystals, scratches disappear almost like magic.

Each kit contains the tools necessary to remove both minor and deep scratches. NOTE: deep scratches (those which can be felt with your fingertip) require you to purchase the correct touch-up paint for your vehicle before using the kit. The touch-up paint acts as a filler. In each kit, you get:

  • One 2x3 in. Color-coded Soft Touch® Pad: 1800 (Green)
  • One 2x3 in. Color-coded Soft Touch Pad: 2400 (Black)
  • One 2x3 in. Color-coded Soft Touch Pad: 3600 (Brown)
  • One 2x3 in. Color-coded Soft Touch Pad: 4000 (Light Purple)
  • One 2x3 in. Color-coded Soft Touch Pad: 8000 (Blue)
  • One 2x3 in. Color-coded Soft Touch Pad: 12000 (Grey)
  • 1 Cotton Flannel Cloth for cleaning the surface
  • 1 bottle of Micro-gloss protectant (2 oz)

DSR-2000 Instructions

The DSR-2000 kit has been engineered to remove superficial damage and restore surfaces to their original luster. Please read instructions completely before use or damage can occur to the finish.

DSR-2000 is very simpleto use. First, classify the severity of the damage to know what tools you need; next remove the damage by filling, smoothing or polishing; finally restore the surface for a final shine and lasting protection.

On average, minor scratches will take 7-10 minutes to be completely restored while deep scratches take 15-20 minutes but may require up to 30 minutes per scratch. Deep scratches take longer to remove simply because you will be using more pads to complete the restoration. Avoid any areas of striping or decorative decals.

Step 1 - Determine Type and Extent of Damage and Starting Point

By determining the extent of damage you can identify the abrasiveness of the pad you will need and whether you will need touch-up paint (not included).

  • Very Fine Scratches - Usually caused by improper cleaning methods. Begin with the 12000 pad.
  • Hairline Scratches & Light Scuffs - Light scratches and hazing - Begin with the 8000 or 12000 pad.
  • Minor Scratches - Readily detected with fingernail. Begin with the 3600 or 4000 pad.
  • Deep Scratches - Easily felt with the fingertip. Damage that penetrates through to the prime base coat, or to bare metal. Begin with the 1800 or 2400 pad. NOTE: Deep scratches require touch-up paint before use (not included). Very deep scratches may not completely be repaired, but you will see close to 100% improvement.

Step 2 - Damage Removal

  1. Filling. Omit this step if scratches are minor and in the finish only. For deep scratches, or damage that penetrates through to the prime base coat or to bare metal, you will need to apply touch-up paint (not included) prior to the use of this kit. The paint acts as a filler and is easily smoothed out using the abrasive pads. For best results, we recommend that you use the exact paint match recommended for your vehicle. Always let the paint thoroughly dry for at least 24 to 48 hours prior to use of this kit.

  2. For minor scratches, or once the scratch has been filled, start with the recommended pad. NOTE: The lower the grit number, the more abbraisive the pad. Pads range from coarse to fine: 1800, 2400, 3600, 4000, 8000, and 12000. Using a coarser grit than required may cause damage to the surface.

For best results use the Soft Touch pads wet with clean water. This keeps the surface cool, the pads free of particles, and well lubricated. Spray or mist water onto the pad's surface using a spray bottle, or dip pads into fresh water occasionally during use. A drop of mild dish detergent can also be added to water for lubrication.

CAUTION: DO NOT SAND IN A CIRCULAR PATTERN . Sand using a straight-line pattern only. With each successive grit (ie. 1800 to 2400) change the direction of your sanding strokes 90 degrees.

  3. Smoothing. Use a light, steady pressure and sand evenly over the entire area. After a few moments on the first grit recommended in Step 1, check your progress. Dry the surface completely before inspecting. The use of 100% cotton flannel or microfiber cloth is recommended. Avoid synthetics and paper towels that can scratch painted surfaces. If it seems the touch up paint is not being removed at an acceptable rate, begin again using the next coarser grade of Soft Touch Pad.

If after using the first grit there are any remaining voids in or around where the touch up paint has been applied, use another coat of touch up paint to fill voids. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SAND AWAY VOIDS OR DAMAGE WILL OCCUR. This process may have to be repeated several times, until the voids are completely filled and the paint is blended smoothly.

IMPORTANT: The object is to fill, blend and smooth the touch up paint, then polish out the surrounding area. DO NOT over sand or damage to the surrounding finish will occur.

  4. Polishing. The first pad will leave minor scuffing to the surrounding area. Each successive grit, will remove the previous pads scuffing, each leaving a finer and finer scuffing, until the last one is used, leaving the surface virtually scuff free. Proceed using the next FINER (larger number) Soft Touch Pad, changing the direction of your sanding pattern 90 degrees. Continue sanding until the previous sanding pattern has been completely removed. Continue the process using the above instructions and progressively finer Soft Touch Pad. Finish using the 12000 Soft Touch Pad.

  5. Once the surface has been sufficiently cleaned, flush with water and dry with a soft cloth.

Step 3 - Surface Restoration

For final shine and lasting protection, apply a coat of Micro-gloss (included) over each repaired area with a damp cloth rubbing briskly for approximately 1-2 minutes in a circular motion. Then clean area with a damp cloth.

When done, thoroughly rinse Soft Touch Pads in warm water, removing all abraded particles from the flannel and Micro-Mesh Soft Touch Pads. Let dry and store for future use. Keep the Micro-gloss from freezing temperatures.
